Nadine's story | The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024

Share:

Nadine explains the importance of getting together and creating memories as a whole family. It’s not just the child with a condition who needs special events, siblings and parents feel the strain and need time to be together in an understanding environment. All this helps to equip them with the support they need to support the people they care for. Your donation will help more families like Nadine’s to have that space to be together as a family and in a supportive community.

We are very grateful for the opportunities we get to share with the MPS Society. We still mention memories that we shared on our day to Legoland now.

My son Jack is 11 years old and has MPS I Hurler. We are incredibly grateful to the MPS Society for inviting our family to visit Legoland this summer. With Jack having MPS I Hurler, a life-limiting condition, a lot of our time is spent attending medical appointments or taking days off school and work to care for him when he is unwell.

These outings allow us to have special days together as a family, creating memories away from the stresses of daily life.

Spending time at Legoland not only gave us a chance to enjoy a fun day out, but it also allowed us to meet other families who share similar challenges.

There’s a real sense of belonging when we are around families like ours.

Jack gets a chance to see that he isn’t the only one facing these challenges, and these connections help with his mental health, knowing that he isn’t alone. Jack has just transitioned to secondary school, as he is in a mainstream school, he can often feel like the odd one out, so I remind him of the children who are just like him.

Legoland is a great experience. Offering the shows, mini land, play parks and the 4D cinema along with having a ride access pass, we really got to make the most of the day. There was a new ride called the Flight of the Sky Lion; Jack flew around the magical Lego world in a flying theatre ride, this ride was accessible and gentle.

Having these experiences at a reduced cost makes them more accessible for our family. Thank you for supporting families like ours and helping us make lasting memories.

How you can help
